Academic Publishing

UCP_Press_2025

Universidade Católica Portuguesa publishes in a broad range of areas, including collections, academic journals and newsletters from the faculties and study centers. Several publications, such as the Portuguese Journal of Philosophy, have long years of existence and hold great prestige in academia.

In 1998, the university created its own publishing company, Universidade Católica Editora (UCP Press), with recognized prestige in the academic and business world, through the development of several editorial lines in the following areas: Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Medicine & Health and Theology.

The aim of UCP Press is to help promote the academic and research activities of UCP, acting as an outstanding means of communication between its academic staff and society at large.

With more than 25 years of existence, UCP Press has more than 1.300 published titles and more than 2.500 authors.

In the last 3 years, the editorial rate has been above 90 titles per year, maintaining the high editorial quality of the issues.

Since 2014, UCP Press publishes e-books, marketed in all digital platforms (Amazon, App Store, Almedina, Barnes & Noble, Bookwire, Fnac.pt, Cat Sabido, Google, IBA, iBookStore, Kobo, LeyaOnline, among others) and can also be purchased on the publishers website.

UCP Press continues its commitment to publishing hybrid books (simultaneously in paper and eBook) and Open Access. These are strategic options for UCP Press, which still maintains the commitment to consolidate:

  • the English language edition;
  • the provision of Open Access monographs, in partnership with the UCP Library network, through the Open BOOKS portal;
  • presence in the main international directories of scientific publishers, notably in DOAB, among others.
