Applications open for Ubuntu United Nations leadership program

Universidade Católica Portuguesa has recently adhered to UBUNTU UNITED NATIONS (UNN) as an associated institution. The UNN is a global initiative developed by Ubuntu Leaders Academy, a project promoted by IPAV – INSTITUTO PADRE ANTÓNIO VIEIRA.

The programs’ debut edition will gather more than 600 young leaders, from the 193 countries represented at the United Nations Organization and will be presided by Nobel Peace Prize Laureate José Ramos Horta.

The UNN which aims to encourage the young leaders to pledge to the defense of Human Rights, Social Justice and Sustainable Development, will take place in five online seminars between October 24 and December 19, 2021.

Three participants from each country, aged between 18 and 35, who meet the following criteria, will be selected by the jury of the initiative:

  • Being a national of one of the 193 countries with a seat at the United Nations;
  • Being available to complete the training program;
  • Being fluent in English;
  • Being motivated to participate in the 1st edition of Ubuntu United Nations;
  • Sharing the values, principles and purposes of this initiative.

The application period ends on August 30, 2021. After evaluation by the jury of the initiative, the selected candidates will be announced via e-mail on September 30
