Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics' student Maria Beatriz Velez won the third place FAE/CGD 2021 Case Study Award, worth 2.000€, with the case study "Delta-Q - From Zero to Hero- When the Follower becomes the leader". The awards ceremony for the first three places was held at NOVA School of Business & Economics.
The case study "Delta-Q - From Zero to Hero- When the Follower becomes the leader", which was part of the dissertation of the Master's student in Management specializing in Strategic Marketing, and which was supervised by Rita Coelho do Vale, describes the innovation process embraced by DELTA Cafés, the Portuguese market leader in the coffee industry, to dethrone, in less than five years, the first well-established brand in Portugal, Nespresso.
The FAE/CGD 2021 Case Studies Award is an annual initiative of the Fórum de Administradores e Gestores de Empresas, with Caixa Geral de Depósitos, which aims to distinguish the best management cases of Portuguese or foreign companies operating in Portugal that serve as a model for growth and/or innovation. The cases must show a management challenge of a company or group of companies, focusing on the creation of value and sustainability for the organization.
