Católica researchers ranked among world's most cited researchers, according to Stanford University

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) has eight scientists ranked in the world's most cited researchers in 2020, according to the "World's Top 2% Scientists 2021" ranking, compiled by Stanford University (USA).

From the School of Biotechnology, figure the researchers Célia Manaia and Paula Teixeira in Biomedicine; Manuela Pintado in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry; João C. Fernandes in Clinical Medicine; and Marta W. Vasconcelos in Biology. From the areas of Economics and Management, the researchers Rui Sousa, from Católica Porto Business School and Ilídio Barreto, from Católica Lisbon - School of Business and Economics, stand out. From the area of Public Health and Health Services is featured the researcher Sílvia Caldeira, from the Institute of Health Sciences.

It should be noted that of the eight researchers from UCP who appear in the report, three are also highlighted for the impact they have generated for Science throughout their career: Célia Manaia, João C. Fernandes and Manuela Pintado.

"For the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, this result highlights the international recognition of the high quality scientific production and excellence of our researchers," states Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

The document with the results of more than 190 thousand scientists from all over the world, from 22 areas and 176 disciplines, presents the list of researchers whose published works have contributed the most to the progress in their respective areas and that have most influenced the scientific production of other researchers.
