DGS Commends Universidade Católica's Researchers in Diário da República

Beatriz Raposo, Miguel Arriaga, Rita Francisco and Rui Gaspar researchers from the Faculty of Human Sciences (FCH) of Católica received a commendation from Maria da Graça de Freitas, Director-General of Health, for the "professionalism, commitment, dedication and loyalty" during the pandemic of COVID-19, as published in the Diário da República on 25 May 2023.

FCH researchers Beatriz Raposo and Miguel Arriaga, who simultaneously perform functions in the DGS, were also distinguished with this commendation.

Maria da Graça de Freitas publicly acknowledges the commitment of the CRC-W researchers in the "exceptional professional qualities of the employees and consultants of the DGS" who "gave the best of their knowledge, without limitation of time, to the public cause, defending Public Health, exceeding with a high sense of duty and loyalty the respective functions, being of the utmost justice to pay them my homage.

The CRC-W team receives commendations for their integration in the "Working Group on Social Mobilization, Risk Perception and Behavioral Change", for the development of the studies on "monitoring social networks: perception of systemic risk, the demands posed by the pandemic and the resources to cope with them" and on "the vaccination against COVID-19: intention and its predictors", among other projects to which they are dedicated.

"Particularly during the pandemic, it is only fair to highlight the outstanding performance of employees who stood out for their high work capacity and unlimited availability, spirit of sacrifice and self-sacrifice, contributing to the extraordinary effort of the DGS and the country, performing their duties with rigor, ethics, in-depth knowledge and technical skills and showing human qualities, solidarity, and excellent team spirit that have certainly contributed to health gains.

Upon stepping down, the Director-General of Health publicly states: "I must express my deserved and public praise" to the employees and consultants of the Directorate-General of Health "for their unparalleled dedication in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, without neglecting other functions.

"The services provided by them are important, extraordinary and relevant," reads the Diário da República.
