Isabel Capeloa Gil will be a speaker at the debate "Fake News - European journalism faces new challenges

Isabel Capeloa Gil, Rector of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, will participate in the online debate "Fake News - European journalism faces new challenges" next Thursday, December 3, at 6:30pm, organized by the Goethe-Institut Portugal in collaboration with the UCP.

With moderation by Luísa Meireles, Director of the LUSA agency, the debate will also have the participation of João Vieira Pereira, Director of Expresso and Bernhard Pörksen, professor of Media Studies at the University of Tübingen.

Focusing on the European media, the debate will address the context that originated the dissemination of fake news, which had an impact on the role of the media as a fourth power, including the role of the internet, social networks and smartphones in this process, aiming at identifying strategies to face this reality.

The online debate is part of the cycle of debates "Quo Vadis Europa?", an initiative promoted by the Goethe-Institut Portugal, the German-Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Association of St. Bartholomew of the Germans in Lisbon.
