The new dean is Professor of Finance at CPBS, Member of the Executive Committee of Católica Porto and Co-leader of INSURE.Hub. He is also a consultant for the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in the areas of financial innovation, investment project evaluation and sustainable finance. He has held management positions in public and private companies in different sectors of activity.

At the swearing-in ceremony for the new management of Católica Porto Business School, the President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP), Isabel Capeloa Gil, highlighted "the affirmation of CPBS in the demanding panorama of Business Schools in Portugal as a School focused on impact. Here we have always wanted to be more and the board of directors that is now taking office is living up to that ambition by nurturing a differentiating proposal."

The new board of Católica Porto Business School, led by João Pinto, also includes Paulo Alves as deputy director and four assistant directors: Ana Lourenço, Conceição Silva, Helena Correia and Alexandra Leitão.

In his inaugural speech, the new dean said that "there are challenges ahead, which we cannot shy away from, associated with sustainability, science funding and retaining talent. In addition, we know that Portuguese society has been faced with birth rate challenges with long-lasting repercussions and that competition is strong, not only at national level, but also internationally, where the School must continue to grow in order to establish itself as one of the best business schools in Europe." In addition, "the challenges that the job market imposes on us are increasingly demanding".

João Pinto also says that "there are opportunities in the perspective of developing a school that assumes at its core the purposes that have been proclaimed by Pope Francis, such as the importance of territoriality, research at the service of improving the economy and the focus on the human person".

A School that seeks to have an impact on society "through the 3 fundamental areas of activity: Teaching, Research and Innovation, and Service and Social Responsibility". The new Dean advocates "a School that goes further: that innovates with impact, that develops a global mindset, that promotes a close link to practice and that strengthens its orientation towards the themes of Ethics, Social Responsibility and Sustainability".
