José de Mello Group donates 12 million euros to Universidade Católica Portuguesa for the new Campus Veritati
Universidade Católica Portuguesa receives one of the most important donations ever made in Portugal to a university, totalling 12 million euros, donated by the José de Mello Group and the José de Mello family.
The donation was formalized today, December 10, at the Rectory of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, by Dr. Vasco de Mello and the Rector of UCP, Prof. Isabel Capeloa Gil, in the presence of the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon D. Manuel Clemente.
The Rector of UCP, Prof. Dr. Isabel Capeloa Gil highlights that this project "demonstrates the great alignment between the José de Mello family and UCP in the common purpose of contributing to the creation of value and affirming differentiating projects for the country, such as the UCP's Lisbon School of Business & Economics, a school of quality and world reference".
The José de Mello Group and the José de Mello family have always played a very important role in supporting UCP and the activities developed by the university, both in granting scholarships and supporting research. Dr. Vasco de Mello states: "Our support aims to strengthen the role of university institutions in the training of qualified young people who can contribute to the development of Portugal".
UCP will build the new Campus Veritati north of Avenida Lusíada, connected to the current campus, which will include a new building for the Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics and a multifunctional building, with a large auditorium, spaces for innovation and where the UCP Rectory will also be installed.
The Business School of Universidade Católica in Lisbon has been developing an ambitious educational project of international quality for over 40 years. The Campus Veritati will not only provide the Business School with modern spaces that will allow it to develop, but it will also boost the growth of the other Schools of UCP in Lisbon, leaders in their areas of training.
Following this important donation, the new building of the Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics will be called "Edifício José Manuel de Mello".
