Library with Life: webinar on the Holocaust

Continuing the initiatives of the Library with Life program (Library of the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences), a public session on the Holocaust, open to the entire academic community, will take place next Thursday, July 2, at 4:00 p.m.

This activity, which counts with the participation of Alexandra Esteves (History), Daniela Monteiro (Social Work) and students of Tourism, Daniela Carvalho and Marta Ferraz, aims, essentially, to promote a cross-dialogue based on the readings and perspectives that the Holocaust theme raises in three areas: one, more traditional, of History, which seeks to contextualize this event; that of Tourism, through two virtual visits to two spaces associated with World War II (the concentration camp of Auschwitz and the House of Anne Frank in Amsterdam); and that of Social Work, taking the example of Irena Sendler, a Polish social worker, who saved the lives of 2500 Jewish children.

This webinar aims to bring to the present time and promote reflection on an event that, although it belongs to the past, although not too far away, has withstood the wear and tear of time and persists in the memory of those who have experienced it and those who, for various reasons, do not want to forget one of the darkest episodes in human history.
