New law students at Católica will "learn to think for the future"

Universidade Católica Portuguesa welcomes new students who are just starting their university journey. This Monday, September 4, was the turn to welcome the students of the Faculty of Law - Lisbon School. During the welcoming activities, we met Luísa, Carlota, Mariana and Marco, who were enthusiastic about this new stage.

Originally in the Science field, they chose Law after doing a lot of research into the course and its subjects. Both Carlota and Marco had always thought of studying Biology. But as they approached the higher education application stage, they realised that they were passionate about Law. Inspired by family members who were lawyers, Carlota began to observe the preparation for trials and to find out more about the course. As for Marco, it was a neighbour who was studying Law at Católica who sparked his interest in this area.

The four students chose Católica because of "the employability rate, the opportunities it offers students and the good atmosphere". "I liked the programme, the schedules, and I think the course here is very well organised," explains Carlota.

Eager for classes to begin, the students are getting to know their professors and how the course functions during the welcoming activities organised by the faculty.

"The main thing you'll take away from four years at university is learning to think in the present for the future," explains the Faculty's Director, Ana Taveira da Fonseca, at the welcoming ceremony. "But university isn't just about learning, it's also about the relationship between professors and students and the relationships that are established between students," she said, emphasising the importance of friendship and mutual support during the academic journey that is now beginning.
