Nursing student wins Taekwondo championship

Carolina Costa, a nursing student at the Nursing School (Porto) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, became the university champion in Taekwondo. The student has once again taken the name of the Universidade Católica to the podium of the university championships.

The National University Taekwondo Championships took place on 24 February in Aveiro. The student explains that "this was a great achievement". She also says that it was a "very special victory to see all the hard work and effort rewarded. It was also the achievement of one of my goals for 2024, which was to be invited to the 2024 European University Games."

Carolina Costa says that representing Universidade Católica "is a great joy, but it's also an equal responsibility to wear the Católica jersey, because it's such a renowned and internationally recognised university. I feel enormous gratitude for being able to do this, because without it I wouldn't have been able to achieve my past and future goals."

The student also emphasises the support she feels from her professors: "I have a lot of support from the university's professors, particularly because there is a professor assigned to help students with student-athlete status, and even in relation to the other professors who always help us with everything we need."

In 2023, the student won the runner-up title at the European University Championships, which took place in Zagreb, Croatia. At the time, she said she wanted to "continue representing Católica in upcoming national, European and world competitions." And so she did. Another achievement for Carolina Costa and the Universidade Católica Portuguesa!
