Photography exhibitions by Eduardo Teixeira Pinto

An exhibition of photographs, entitled “O Prazer de Fotografar”, by Eduardo Teixeira Pinto, will take place from May 27 to June 25 of 2021, and can be seen in the spaces of the D. José Pedro da Silva Library, during the current working hours of the library.

Complying with the internal safety rules stipulated by the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and following the guidelines of the DGS in the framework of Covid-19, the Library is pleased to invite all of you to participate in this event.

We remember that the permanence in the spaces of the Library requires the use of a mask and compliance with hand hygiene measures, as well as an adequate physical distance. A maximum of 15 people will be accepted at the same time.


Eduardo da Costa Teixeira Pinto was born in Amarante in 1933 and started taking his first professional photographs in 1950, becoming an exhibitor since 1953 in various photography salons on the five continents.

His vast work, endowed with a poetic look at reality, made him one of the best and most awarded Portuguese photographers of the 20th century, with photographs that addressed various themes, with an emphasis on Nature and the human figure, which he so well knew how to reconcile .

With photographs such as «Rodopio», «Igreja de S. Gonçalo», «De Regresso», «Tema de Pintores», «Matinal» and «Quietude», among others, he won numerous prizes in Portugal and abroad, namely the Grand Prix de Camões do Ateneu Comercial de Lisboa (1960), at the time, one of the highest distinctions at national level.

The Association for the creation of the Eduardo Teixeira Pinto Museum, has been installed, since August 2017, at Casa da Granja, in São Veríssimo - Amarante, which has a room dedicated to the photographer where some of his estate can be seen.

Deceased in January 2009, Eduardo Teixeira Pinto left a priceless photographic collection, being the family's will to promote its dissemination with the aforementioned exhibition.
