Porto Faculty of Law appointed chief spokesperson for the European Commission
Porto Faculty of Law welcomes the appointment of its alumna, Paula Pinho, to the post of chief spokesperson for the European Commission, a position given to her by President Ursula von der Leyen in her second term. Her main responsibilities include answering journalists' questions at the Commission's daily press conferences, known as “midday briefings”.
With a law degree from the Porto Faculty of Law, Paula Pinho has been a member of the European Commission since 2000, where she currently holds the position of director in the Directorate-General for Energy. With extensive experience in Brussels, she has also worked with several European Commissioners, demonstrating a firm commitment to the European project and public service.
The new European Commission is due to take office on 1 December, following the expected approval of the European Parliament in a vote scheduled for 27 November.
The Faculty is proud of Paula Pinho's remarkable career and wishes her all the best in this new challenge, which, as well as being a milestone in her career, also represents a moment of great prominence for the Universidade Católica in the European Union.
