Porto Regional Centre launches Alumni Fund for Students

The Porto Regional Centre of Universidade Católica Portuguesa launched the Alumni Fund for Students, another initiative that brings together Alumni and Students. The aim is to invite former students to contribute so that students who benefit from Social Support (in the form of a social loan) are free from the reimbursement of the supported amount of tuition fees, in their post-university life.

Maria Lopes Cardoso, director of Partnerships, Alumni and Employability at Porto Regional Centre, explains that the initiative "for current students will be a fantastic opportunity to have the support for the beginning of their lives and for Alumni - so many who have been supported in different ways by Católica! - the opportunity to make a small or a big contribution, which together may change the lives of future colleagues!"

The Porto Regional Centre broadens the scope of social support, continuing to contribute to making education of excellence available to all. Former students are invited to contribute with any amount they wish so that, already in the 2020/2021 academic year, this new support can be granted to scholarship students who, at the end of their academic journey, would have to reimburse the tuition fees (supported during the course by the University).

This fund will be attributed annually and the process of attribution of this support will be in charge of a technical team that will respect the privacy of the student contemplated.

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa, in Porto, has since its beginning (1978) a system of social mechanisms that have already supported around 3600 young people. The Porto Regional Centre challenges the whole Alumni Community to be part of this support dynamic so that more young people can build their future at Católica in Porto.
