Professor Dimitris Tatakis - "Fulbright Award in Dental Medicine" at Católica Dental School

The Faculty of Dental Medicine will receive Professor Dimitris Tatakis as part of another "Fulbright Award in Dental Medicine" for the development of the project "Regenerative Periodontics and Periodontal Diagnosis". Professor Tatakis is Professor and Director of the Division of Periodontology at Ohio State University (OSU), and will collaborate in the teaching of the Integrated Master's Degree in Dentistry, the Postgraduate Diploma in Periodontology and research activities of the Interdisciplinary Health Research Centre (ICES-Catholic).

Professor Tatakis' main scientific interests focus on Clinical Research and Translational Medicine, with emphasis on regenerative periodontal surgery, periodontal wound healing and periodontal-systemic interactions. He is particularly interested in the identification and study of factors in the individual that determine regenerative outcomes and the interactions between periodontal therapy and systemic biomarkers. 

This is another opportunity for teachers and students of the Faculty of Dentistry to exchange experiences and knowledge. The project will run from February to May 2021 and will allow closer international research collaborations, in this case between the Portuguese Catholic University and the North American University of Ohio.
