Professor Miguel Poiares Maduro awarded Doctorate Honoris Causa

Keio University, in Tokyo, Japan, awarded on November 4, 2022, the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Miguel Poiares Maduro, Professor at the Faculty of Law - Lisbon School of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Dean of the Católica Global School of Law.

The distinction was granted in recognition of his formidable contributions to the world of academia, to the practice of law, as well as for his work in the field of governmental administration.

Miguel Poiares Maduro was previously honored by the President of the Portuguese Republic with the Order of Sant'Iago da Espada for literary, scientific, and artistic merit. Amongst other recognitions, he was the first winner of the Rowe and Maw Prize and was also awarded the Prize Obiettivo Europa (for the best Ph.D. thesis at the EUI) and the Gulbenkian Science Prize.

Chak Wa Kong, a final year Law student, is the winner of the first Eversheds School Prize, which honours the merit and individual performance of students at the Lisbon School of the Faculty of Law of Universidade Católica Portuguesa in the area of Obligations Law.
