Saving Lives: Católica organises Basic Life Support Workshops in collaboration with CASA

On 15 and 29 April, the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) organised two Basic Life Support workshops, which concluded a cycle of four workshops at CASA - Centro de Apoio ao Sem-Abrigo (Homeless Support Centre).

12 members of staff and people supported by CASA took part in the training sessions coordinated by António Borges, a professor at UCP.  Workshops which, for Carlota Silva, the association's technical director, "are extremely important for the concrete objective of helping people to live, but also equally important for interpersonal relationships with work colleagues and between users"

Carlota Silva also emphasises the importance of these workshops having not only a theoretical component, but also a practical one, considering that "(...) it makes it easier for everyone involved to understand and participate".

The Basic Life Support sessions, organised by the Católica Social Responsibility Office, were held in partnership with Capacitar para Salvar, a University Extension project run by the Católica Nursing Centre (Lisbon), of the Nursing School.

A training initiative that is not limited to CASA. Two more Basic Life Support workshops are planned in partnership with the Capacitar para Salvar project, aimed at technicians and volunteers from the VIDA Project's partner organisations, to be held at UCP on 14 May and 28 June.
