Católica shines in Banco de Portugal competition

Teams from Universidade Católica Portuguesa shone in the 1st edition of the "My Financial Future" competition, organised by Banco de Portugal and the CFA Society Portugal.

The team from Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics (CLSBE), made up of David Couto de Sousa, Leonor Garcia da Rocha and Tiago Freitas, won first place, standing out among the 124 competing teams. Their creative and educational proposal, which covered topics such as personal financial management and investment decisions, was presented in a role-play of a consultation with ‘Doctor Literacy’.

As a prize, they received a sum of money and the opportunity to visit the Bank of Portugal, as well as recording a podcast about their experience.

‘This competition has allowed us to contribute to the promotion of financial literacy in Portugal. We believe that Portuguese society has a long way to go in this area and this ‘small’ step is already a great source of pride. We congratulate the Bank of Portugal and the CFA Society Portugal for this initiative, which we hope will be repeated for many years to come among young people,’ said the CLSBE students.

On the other hand, the team from Católica Porto Business School, made up of Vitória Afonso and Rafaela Melo and Carolina Mendonça and Francisca Sousa from the Faculty of Biotechnology, came second, also presenting a case study on financial literacy.

For the students from the Porto Campus of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, this was an enriching experience, providing a unique opportunity to deepen their financial knowledge and interact directly with experts in the sector.

The competition, in which around 400 students from 27 institutions took part, had its final at the Money Museum in Lisbon and was attended by important figures from the financial sector, such as the Governor of the Bank of Portugal, Mário Centeno.

Alongside the process of collecting and processing documents, the aim is also to discuss the importance of scientific research in the early days of the University.

The documents on display were collected in the course of two research projects at the end of the 1970s, centered on the Ongoing Revolutionary Process (PREC) and Agrarian Reform.

On April 29, there will be a discussion "Understanding the Revolution", with Maria Inácia Rezola, António Barreto, Mário Pinto, Henrique Mota, and Peter Hanenberg, with moderation by Paulo F. de Oliveira Fontes.

Nursing education is underpinned by research conducted “in and with” the Community (community-based participatory research), particularly with vulnerable populations, resulting in community service that supports learning (service-based learning).

The new master's programmes reaffirm Universidade Católica Portuguesa's commitment to training highly qualified nursing professionals who are prepared to work in complex contexts and actively contribute to improving healthcare in Portugal.
