"Truth in the Age of Disinformation" conference

The Association of Women Ambassadors, in partnership with the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, is organising the conference ‘Truth in the Age of Disinformation’ on March 24 at the Católica headquarters in Lisbon. This event will bring together a diverse group of experts from various nationalities to explore the intersections between disinformation, political polarisation and the specific challenges faced by vulnerable communities.

Isabel Capeloa Gil, President of the Universidade Católica, and Elise Racicot, Canadian Ambassador to Portugal, will give the opening remarks at the ceremony, while the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will give the closing speech.

The event will be attended by Alina Bargoanu, a member of the board of the European Digital Media Observatory, and Pedro Calado, from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

The aim of this event is to promote dialogue, identify common ground and develop innovative strategies to effectively tackle these issues, while preserving freedom of expression and freedom of the press as fundamental principles in a democratic society.
