CBQF and WUR explore cutting-edge drone technology in agriculture and the food industry
The Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry (CBQF) of the School of Biotechnology (ESB) of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and Wageningen University & Research (WUR) held on 20 July 2023, at Vitacress Portugal, the STARGATE Drone Workshop. This event, which was attended by Spin.Works, a leading drone technology company, brought together academia and industry.
Workshop participants from different sectors explored cutting-edge drone technology and its applications in agriculture and the food industry, as well as witnessed first-hand how this technology is revolutionising precision agriculture, crop monitoring and sustainable farming practices. The collaboration of stakeholders demonstrated the potential for innovation and practical solutions in the field, driving the industry towards greater efficiency and sustainability. The STARGATE Drone Workshop thus impacted all participants, inspiring new advances in this field and fostering collaborations between academia and industry.
The STARGATE project - "Sensors and daTA tRaininG towards high-performance Agri-food sysTEms", funded by Horizon 2020 through the "Twinning of research institutions" programme, aims to respond to the major challenges of European agri-food systems. STARGATE involves the participation of researchers from the Centre for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry of the School of Biotechnology of the Catholic University who, in collaboration with leading international institutions - Wageningen University & Research (WUR), the French Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE) and the German Institute of Plant Genetics and Plant Research (IPK) - are deepening and sharing knowledge on creating more resilient and sustainable agri-food systems.
