Conference on Philosophy of Mind brings together experts from 20 countries in Braga

The 4th International Conference on Philosophy of Mind: "4Es Approach to the Mind and Brain", organised by the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, brought together around 90 researchers from all over the world, at the Braga Regional Centre of the Universidade Católica, from 6 to 8 March.

The conference was marked by the participation of some of the most influential current philosophers of the mind, such as the philosopher Shaun Gallagher, the philosopher emeritus Peter Gärdenfors, the linguist Dirk Geeraerts, the neurodevelopmental researcher Adriana Sampaio and the neuroscientist Karl Friston.

During 3 days, 115 participants from 20 different countries debated the 4 fundamental characteristics for understanding the Mind (embodied, embedded, enactive, extended) through the perspective of the Philosophy of Mind, but also of Linguistics, Cognitive Sciences, Neurosciences and Artificial Intelligence.

The Organising Committee of the Conference included several members of the Centre for Philosophical and Humanistic Studies (CEFH), led by Steven Gouveia, President of the Organising Committee and researcher at the CEFH, and Tânia Oliveira, member of the Organising Committee and Science Manager at the CEFH.
