JSTA: New issue is now available

JSTA

The new issue of JSTA, Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts, is now available.

In this issue, edited by Cristina Sá, André Baltazar and Rui Torres, we recall the six best works presented to the 21st International Conference Consciousness Reframed, which took place between 6 and 8 June 2019, in a CITAR organization, in collaboration with the Planetary Collegium.

Excerpt from the editorial:

Titled "Sentient States: Bio-mind and Techno-nature", the conference proposed to expand the trans-disciplinary inquiries into art, science, technology, and consciousness that previous Consciousness Reframed Conferences, under the direction of Professor Roy Ascott, had already promoted. Aimed at looking at the nature of artificial thought, participants examined how forms of intelligence can be found in nature. Adopting diverse perspectives, multiple creative practices and theories, they explored the ways in which our planetary consciousness is reframing and reforming. The texts selected for this publication seem to confirm that the intersection of practice and theory constitutes a good opportunity to reframe and reform critical thinking in academia as well.

This edition also marks the beginning of a magazine renewal process, undertaken by the new editorial team following the celebration, in 2019, of its ten years of existence. This renovation has passed and will go through a series of steps: changing the graphic image - the first step of which is seen in this issue, with a new logo; clarifying the name of the magazine - officially the Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts and the acronym JSTA; and integration in the new UCP Magazines portal: In the July issue, JSTA will present new sections and a complete graphic reviewal of the pagination.
