NECEP - The Forecasting Lab of Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, was distinguished with the global Best Analyst

NECEP - The Forecasting Lab of Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, was distinguished with the global Best Analyst Forecast Award 2020, in the category Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Portugal, from Focus Economics, one of the largest and most prestigious entities for economic analysis and forecasts for 130 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

This award means that the Católica Lisbon Forecasting Lab was the entity at the international level that presented the most accurate forecast for Portuguese GDP growth for 2019, when GDP grew by 2.2%.

According to Filipe Santos, Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON “it is an honor for CATÓLICA-LISBON to obtain another recognition of the quality of our economists and of its economic forecasting lab, led by Professor João Borges de Assunção, whom I congratulate and all his team for this remarkable performance and for the excellent contribution they make to a deeper knowledge of the Portuguese Economy ”.

According to Prof. João Borges de Assunção, coordinator of NECEP “this recognition is a stimulus for our Subscribers, Scientific Committee and Collaborators present and past, and increases our responsibility to effectively communicate our vision for the Portuguese economy in 2020 and 2021 ”.

This is the second year that the Católica Lisbon Forecasting Lab - NECEP is recognized worldwide for the quality of its forecasts.

Católica Lisbon Forecasting Lab | NECEP, integrated in the Center for Applied Studies of Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics (CATÓLICA-LISBON), was founded in May 2005. It is an independent entity that follows the current economic activity and in the medium term horizon of Portugal, in the euro area and the global economy, and publishes a report every quarter that includes forecasts for the Portuguese and European economies over the medium term.
