President of Católica participates in the "Ausseer Talks" in Austria
The President of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Isabel Capeloa Gil, participated in the International Conference "Ausseer Talks", in Bad Aussee, Austria, with a lecture on the topic "Politics of unrest. Our scarce time read with Pessoa, Cendrars and Benjamin".
The conference, which took place from June 22 to 24, had as its theme this year "The responsibility of the sciences and the arts in times of political and social crisis".
In conferences, seminars and a panel discussion, topics such as the pandemic, the war in Ukraine, climate change and digital transformation, among many others, were addressed.
The programme included a seminar on "From Caesar to quantum information – Cryptography and its socio-political significance in the course of time" with Maria Eichlseder and Andreas Trügler.
"War as a horizon of experience. The crises reflected in the Thirty Years' War and the First World War", was the topic of another seminar, with Martin Scheutz and Heidrun Zettelbaue.
The second day of the conference also featured the panel "Cultural and scientific policy and management in times of crisis", with Peter Riedler, Constanze Wimmer, Federico Celestini, Frank Druffner and Liliane Weissberg.
The President of the Universidade Católica, Isabel Capeloa Gil, also participated in the seminar "Public perception of research under public pressure", which took place on the last day of the event.
This year, as in previous editions, the Ausseer Gespräche awarded scholarships to students so that they could participate in the conference.
