SACRU: Strategic Alliance of Catholic Research Universities
The Declaration of the Global Strategic Alliance was signed on October 12 by Universidade Católica Portuguesa and seven other catholic institutions: Boston College (USA); Pontifícia Universidade Católica (Rio de Janeiro); Universidad de Ramon Llull (Spain); Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuori (Italy); Pontifícia Universidade Católica (Chile); Australian Catholic University (Australia) and Sophia University (Japan).
All the above universities share a cultural heritage inspired by Catholicism, a great degree of rigour on the education academic quality, research and service to their respective communities and a commitment to the development of an intensive research environment, guided by the values of academic freedom and ethical responsibility.
This strategic alliance seeks to foster multilateral cooperation, gather and share good practices, and develop a model of scientific integration which should be competitive and have an impact at a global scale.
This multilateral cooperation includes several initiatives, such as the mobility of teaching and administrative staff, researchers and students and the promotion of joint research projects.
