Technology in education: Transforming learning and preparing for the future
International Education Day emphasises the transformative role of technology in education, an essential approach to meeting the demands of the contemporary world.
Andreia Magalhães, a researcher at the Católica Learning Innovation Lab (CLIL), stresses that "technology presents itself as a catalyst for pedagogical innovation capable of transforming the kinetics of teaching and learning into a mechanism that favours the development of technical and analytical skills, which are highly valued in today's world".
CLIL has been a pillar in the implementation of active methodologies using digital tools, providing support to the Católica teaching community.
"The Universidade Católica Portuguesa already uses some of these active methodologies using Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (AIoT), which allow the classroom to be opened up to the outside world to explore real situations", adds Andreia Magalhães.
The researcher, who developed a doctoral project at the Faculty of Education and Psychology (FEP-UCP) focussed on the use of the Internet of Things in the field of Education, emphasises the importance of pedagogical innovation at all levels of education. According to Andreia Magalhães, "FEP-UCP has contributed to the development of pedagogical innovation throughout the Universidade Católica".
With these initiatives, Universidade Católica Portuguesa not only prepares its students for the challenges of the present and the future, but also positions itself at the forefront of educational transformation, harnessing the potential of technology to create a positive and lasting impact.
