Alexandre Fradique Morujão Fund

The Alexandre Fradique Morujão Fund is the personal archive, or part of it, of Alexandre Fradique Morujão. It was integrated into the funds of the João Paulo II University Library (BUJPII) after the dissolution of the Centre for Philosophy Studies (CEFi) of the Faculty of Human Sciences of Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Alexandre Fradique Gomes de Oliveira Morujão was born on November 25, 1922, in São Paio de Vizela, in the municipality of Guimarães, and died in Coimbra on June 19, 2009. Alexandre Fradique Morujão was a professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Coimbra, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (of whose Scientific Society he was a founding member and Director of the Philosophy Section) and, under an agreement with the University of Coimbra, at the University of the Azores.

His personal archive consists of two sections: Correspondence and Academic Activity. The Academic Activity section refers to documentation produced as a university professor, such as booklets, conferences, translations and competition juries. The correspondence section is more significant. This is correspondence exchanged with his academic peers, as well as with institutes and foundations to which he was linked for some reason. Some correspondents stand out, such as José Bacelar e Oliveira, S.J., Félix Augusto Ribeiro, Júlio Fragata, Diamantino Martins, Lúcio Craveiro da Silva, Arnaldo de Miranda Barbosa, Gustavo de Fraga, Américo da Costa Ramalho, Maria Manuela Saraiva, José Sousa Brito, Guilherme Braga da Cruz, Friedrick Stegm Üller, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, among others.

The archive can be accessed at the João Paulo II University Library, by prior appointment. For more information contact biblioteca.lisboa@ucp.pt.
