Católica professor organises talk with writer Mário Cláudio

On November 25, the Chapter Room of the Tibães Monastery hosted the 2nd extension of the Virtues Walk: Person, Heritage and Virtue, under the theme "The Art of the Word". This initiative by Ana Cláudia Fernandes, a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) - Braga, and the Group of Friends of the Tibães Monastery (GAMT) included a conversation around Portuguese love stories in the voice of one of the greatest figures in Portuguese literature, the writer Mário Cláudio.

The author of a vast and multifaceted body of work that spans fiction, chronicles, poetry, dramaturgy and essays, Mário Cláudio, who will soon celebrate 55 years in the field of literature, is recognised as one of the most important authors in the Portuguese literary world.

In a conversation led by Cândido Oliveira Martins, a professor at UCP Braga and a specialist in Literary Studies, we heard about Mário Cláudio's beautiful work "Triunfo do Amor Português" (Triumph of Portuguese Love), which is about stories of love and transgression recreated from legends and episodes from Portuguese history, such as Pedro and Inês, Leonor Teles and Conde Andeiro, Camilo Castelo Branco and Ana Plácido. These inspiring stories were accompanied by music from the 17th century, by Il Filo d'Oro, and by the voice of the Poetry Union and the Face to Face, Book to Book (FFBB) movement.

This moment also marked the debut of tenor Fernando Guimarães conducting Il Filo d'Oro.
