Católica launches new PhD in Integral Ecology
The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) is launching a new PhD in Integral Ecology on 21 May at 5pm.
During Laudato Si' week, which runs from May 19 to 26, the Universidade Católica is presenting the programme for the new PhD, which cuts across several UCP faculties and is inspired by Pope Francisco's text, at its headquarters in Lisbon, with online streaming.
"Given that everything is closely related and that the current problems require a look that takes into account all aspects of the world crisis, I propose that we now stop to reflect on the different elements of an integral ecology, which clearly includes the human and social dimensions."
Laudato Si’
The new programme was launched by the Faculty of Human Sciences in collaboration with the School of Arts, the Faculty of Biotechnology, the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, Católica Medical School and the Faculty of Theology.
With an interdisciplinary programme, lecturers from various UCP Organic Units are involved in the PhD, which aims to provide appropriate ethical responses to global challenges.
Among the issues to be addressed are culture and environmental sustainability; intergenerational justice; the green economy; the fight against systemic poverty and economic growth and sustainability.
The various themes are framed in three central seminars: Ecological Citizenship, Environmental Ecology and Ecological Spirituality.
The deadline for applications is 30 May.
