Cátia Tuna - Mário Soares Foundation Award Winner - EDP 2020 Foundation

Cátia Sofia Ferreira Tuna, invited Assistant Professor at Faculdade de Teologia in Lisbon and integrated researcher at Centro de Estudos de História Religiosa (CEHR) was the winner of the Mário Soares Foundation Award - EDP 2020, with the doctoral dissertation "Não sei se canto se rezo": ambivalências culturais e religiosas do fado (1926-1945)", presented to the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon and defended in public exams in March 2020.

In her research, Cátia Tuna proposed to study the nomination of fado as a prayer or prayer, "analyzing the religious elements that are recognizable to it, in the discourses in which fado says itself, considering itself to be prayer and religion, and in the divergent representations and opinions that circulated about it in public space.

Cátia Tuna holds a PhD in History (specialization in History and Culture of Religions) from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon (2020) and a Master's degree in Theology from the Faculty of Theology of the Portuguese Catholic University (2012).

2nd Meeting "Convents and Monasteries of Portugal: a heritage to be unveiled"

Tuesday, June 01, 2021 - 10:00 - Tuesday, June 01, 2021 - 17:30

Online

The Project "Convents and Monasteries of Portugal (1096-1910): spatialities and temporalities" is currently underway within the UCP-CEHR and with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Inspired by other initiatives underway in Europe, the CONVEMOS Project aims to stimulate and relaunch research on the religious orders and congregations that existed in Portugal, identifying the respective institutions in space and time, and highlighting the material and immaterial heritage they bequeathed to us, in some cases still existing, in others only in vestiges.

The use of new technological means in the Humanities is a reality that has been consolidating and the project is part of the Digital Humanities movement, proposing in theory and in practice, through a relational database, to bring knowledge about convents and monasteries of Portugal to an interested public, from academics to tourists.
In this phase of the Project, the database is being finalized in its potentialities, with data about the convents of the Orders of Preachers and the Cartuxa. The objective of this 2nd Meeting is to present the results of the Project and to contribute to the debate on the legacy and heritage of regular religious institutions. Thus, national and international experts will participate, some of whom will present other similar projects at national and European scale, and the CONVEMOS database will be presented by members of the team.

Colloquium "Crossed glances: constructions of the Other in the Religions of the Ancient World"

Wednesday, October 26, 2022 - 10:00 - Wednesday, October 26, 2022 - 16:45

Online

The Centre of Religious History Studies of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa organises the Colloquium "Crossed glances: Crossed glances: constructions of the Other in the Religions of the Ancient World" from 26 to 28 October.

The first two days of the event will take place in the Sala de Exposições at the headquarters of the UCP, in Lisbon. On the 28th, the colloquium will take place in Room EA112 at the Porto Regional Centre.

Aiming to contribute to a deeper knowledge of religion in the ancient world, from the Egyptian religion, through the religious traditions of Ancient Greece and the Roman world, to ancient Christianity, this Colloquium also intends to discuss the problem of the Other, in its multiplicity, and how it is constantly constructed discursively and through social and religious practices that, on the one hand, lead to profound transformations in the community that observes and, on the other, provoke reactions in what is observed.

This initiative is also a training course accredited by the Scientific and Pedagogical Council for Continuous Training for professors of all recruitment groups.
