On 11 October, 170 international students from the four campuses of the Universidade Católica gathered at the Porto Regional Centre for a day of cultural discovery and welcome.

In a unique opportunity for integration, 15 refugee students from the Universidade Católica attended the Portugal-Croatia match on September 5 at the Sport Lisboa e Benfica stadium. A dream come true in which they were able to see their childhood idol. Find out more about this experience.

During these welcome weeks for new students, Católica is filled with young people from a wide variety of countries, ready to meet their classmates and get to know the place that will be their second home for the next few years. This is the case of Caterina, Federico and Daniela, from Italy, who are in Lisbon for the first time to study at Católica. Read more here.

Farkhunda Kargar, a refugee student at Universidade Católica, participates in the “Vizinhos do Lado” exhibition by JRS Portugal, inaugurated on June 22th. In her words, “a wonderful opportunity for us (Afghans) to share our histories”. Learn more about this project and visit the exhibition.

“Freedom is about being able to take information and education and make it relevant to your own growth every single day,” shares Seyedfarzad Fazaeli, a refugee studying Dental Medicine at Católica, in Viseu. On May 5, which celebrates the Portuguese language worldwide, Sajad Kargar, Afghan refugee and student at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, shares some tips on how to learn the language. Watch the video and celebrate the World Day of the Portuguese Language.

This is Gabriela Sado's second time in Portugal, but her first in Viseu. She chose Católica to study psychology because it was "the best university" in the country. At the age of 22, she came from Brazil to "become a great psychologist". Sham and Amirah Aldagistani, two Syrian sisters, recently finished a chapter that had begun in their homeland: the Integrated Master's Degree in Dental Medicine. Their training was interrupted by the war, but thanks to a scholarship awarded by the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, they were able to resume and complete their studies at the Faculty of Dental Medicine of the UCP in Viseu.
